HOW TO START BLOG

In order to document family recipes as well as those I had developed or discovered throughout my official Home Science course, I launched the food blog in May 2025. I was inspired to start this online journal by a buddy.

FOOD SAFETY

Cooking at home is fun, but it’s important to keep things safe. Follow these easy food satety tips to make sure your meals are healthy and safe to eat.

1. Wash Your Hands
Always wash your hands before and after handling food, especially raw meat. Use soap and water for 20 seconds to remove germs.
2. Clean Your Kitchen
Keep your counters, cutting boards, and utensils clean. Wipe them down with a sanitizer after each use to stop germs from spreading.
3. Store Food Properly
Store raw meat, eggs, and seafood in the fridge on the bottom shelf, so they don’t drip onto other foods. Keep your fridge below 40°F (4°C).
5. Thaw Food Safely
Never thaw food on the counter. Thaw in the fridge, microwave, or in cold water to keep it safe.
6. Avoid Cross-Contamination
Use separate cutting boards for raw meat and vegetables to keep harmful germs away from your food.
7. Check Expiration Dates
Always check the date on food labels to make sure it’s still safe to eat.
Don’t use expired products.
8. Don’t Leave Food Out Too Long
If food is left out for more than 2 hours (or 1 hour on hot days), throw it away. Bacteria grow fast at room temperature.
